Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay – The Regional Peace and Order Council (RPOC) IX convened for its 4th Quarter CY 2024 Regular Meeting on December 09, 2024, at 10:00AM at Badsbrotel Suites, Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay. The meeting gathered key stakeholders from Uniformed Personnel and Regional Line Agencies to address pressing issues on peace, order, and public safety in Region IX, highlighting the region’s colelctive efforts to ensure secuity and development.

During the meetin, Philippine National Police – Police Regional Office (PNP-PRO) IX provided updates on the current peace and order situation, while the 1st Infantry “Tabak” Division, Philippine Army, shared progress on anti-insurgency and anti-terrorism campaigns. The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) IX discussed the status on anti-ilelgal drug operations and proposed enjoining all Local Government Units (LGUs) to establish Drug-Free Workplace Policies.

In addition, the 102nd Brigade, Philippine Army provided a thorough implementation plan for the Planong Panseguridad Para sa Bagong Bayang Matatag (P-PBBM) framework, recommending its integration into the POPS plans of the region’s provinces and City of Zamboanga. Notably, the council celebrated significant milestones, including achieving an insurgency-free status for Region IX, updates on the Eastman kidnapping case, and the foiled Improvised Explosive Device (IED) explosion plan in Lower Bayao, Tukuran, Zamboanga del Sur. These accomplishments reflect the region’s dedication to fostering a safer environment for its residents.

Moreover, the council’s membership was expanded to include the Regional Explosive Ordinance Disposal and Canine Unit (RECU) IX and National Police Commission (NAPOLCOM) IX, further strengthening its capacity to address security and crime challenges.

The RPOC IX’s 4th Quarter meeting demonstrated the unwavering commitment of regional leaders to esnuring peace, order, and safety. With collaborative efforts from stakeholders, Zamboanga Peninsula continues to pave the way toward sustainable security and development for its communities.
