Zamboanga City – The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) IX organized the Regular Meeting of the Joint Regional Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (RTF-ELCAC) IX at the Convention Hall, Garden Orchid Hotel, Zamboanga City last October 26, 2023, with the primary goal of discussing the current security situation and assessing the advancements in the effort to eradicate local communist insurgency.
The event’s program included a thorough examination of significant regional issues, underscoring the importance of adopting a multifaceted strategy to attain both peace and development. The meeting addressed the following central areas:
- Presentation of the highlights of the 10th Regular Meeting of RTF-ELCAC IX
- Monitoring Report of the FY 2021 and FY 2022 Support to Barangay Development Program
- Peace and Security Situationer in Zamboanga Peninsula, highlighting development in Communist Insurgency affected areas
- PTF-ELCAC Accomplishment Reports
- JRTF-ELCAC IX 11 Clusters Accomplishment Reports
Numerous important stakeholders attended the meeting, and the presence of Hon. Manuel M. Bonoan, who serves as the Secretary of the Department of Public Works and Highways and holds the position of Cabinet Officer for Regional Development and Security IX, added significant weight to the event. Secretary Bonoan’s participation emphasized the government’s dedication to addressing critical issues related to insurgency and advancing regional development and security.
The RTF-ELCAC IX is committed to persistently following a cooperative and all-encompassing strategy to address the issues presented by the communist insurgency in the area.
