The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Regional Office IX , in collaboration with DILG Zamboanga Sibugay and RARE Philippines, successfully conducted a writeshop on the Fisheries Compliance Audit (FishCA) on May 23, 2025, at DILG Regional Office IX, Balintawak, Pagadian City, Zamboanga del Sur.
The activity aimed to refine the draft memorandum circular for the FishCA Validation Process in Zamboanga Peninsula, particularly covering the Coastal Municipalities of Zamboanga Sibugay. The output seeks to ensure fair and accurate task allocation among members of the Regional Validation Team and to facilitate the smooth implementation of FishCA-related programs that assess LGUs’ compliance and performance with fisheries laws and coastal resource management standards.
This collaborative effort reflects the shared commitment to strengthening local governance mechanisms for sustainable fisheries. It also emphasizes the importance of participatory governance in decision-making in protecting marine ecosystems and improving the livelihoods of coastal communities.
