Two personnel from the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Region IX have successfully completed the Australia Awards and Alumni Engagement Program – Philippines short course on Improving Competencies in Gender Equality, Disability, and Social Inclusion (GEDSI) and Climate Resilience Planning and Change Management, held on June 16, 2025, at the Makati Diamond Residences.
The course aimed to strengthen the capacity of government personnel in promoting inclusive and climate-resilient local governance. As part of the program, the DILG IX participants presented their Re-Entry Action Plans (ReAPs) entitled, “SAFE HAVEN: Manual for the Development of GEDSI-sensitive Evacuation Protocols for LGUs” and the “Inclusive Evacuation Assessment Tool.”
These initiatives provide LGUs with practical tools to ensure that evacuation planning and facilities are responsive to the needs of vulnerable groups. The ReAPs also complement ongoing efforts to institutionalize GEDSI in disaster preparedness and local development.
This milestone underscores DILG IX’s continued commitment to inclusive and responsive governance where no one is left behind.
