Pagadian City, Zamboanga del Sur – The DILG IX successfully conducted a Deepening Session on Tourism, Heritage Development, and Culture and Arts with the participation of the Provincial Tourism Office of Zamboanga del Norte, the Municipal Tourism Office of Kumalarang, and DILG IX Field Officers on February 12, 2025, at the DILG IX Conference Hall, Balintawak, Pagadian City, Zamboanga del Sur.

This deepening session aimed to equip local government units (LGUs) with the necessary skills and knowledge to excel in the Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) indicators related to Tourism, Heritage Development, and Culture and Arts. Participants collaboratively identified the root problems hindering the successful implementation of relevant programs and initiatives, moving beyond surface-level symptoms to understand underlying systemic issues.

Furthermore, the session facilitated the exploration and design of targeted capacity development interventions—including training, technical assistance, and resource mobilization strategies—to empower LGUs in effectively addressing these challenges. By strengthening their performance, LGUs can enhance their chances of SGLG recognition and foster sustainable and inclusive growth within their communities through tourism, heritage, and cultural development.
