Pagadian City, Zamboanga del Sur – The 2023 Parangal sa DILG IX, a highly awaited awards ceremony organized jointly by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) IX and the DILG Zamboanga del Sur Provincial Office, was successfully hosted at the Pavilion Hall, Provincial Government Complex, Dao, Pagadian City last December 18, 2023. The event, centered around the theme of “Innovation Governance: Celebrating Excellence & Unity amidst Cultural Diversity,” saw participants adorned in the colorful Modern Mindanaoan attire. 

Aligned with the guidelines outlined in DILG Circular No. 2017-15, issued on May 16, 2017, DILG IX has effectively established an accolade framework referred to as Parangal sa DILG IX. This endeavor, driven by a dedication to gender-neutral principles, has witnessed DILG IX’s Awards and Incentives for Service Excellence (PRAISE) program not only recognizing diligent efforts but also serving as a deliberate instrument to enhance excellence in the implementation of programs. 

Parangal sa DILG IX is designed to acknowledge and encourage exceptional performance, creative ideas, and remarkable efforts from both individuals and teams, all with the ultimate goal of benefiting the community. Through the recognition of outstanding achievements, DILG IX not only inspires its workforce but also lays the groundwork for continuous growth and success. 

The proceedings kicked off with an introductory speech by Paisal O. Abutazil, CESO III, serving as the Regional Director of DILG IX. This was followed by a significant keynote address delivered by Hon. Victor J. Yu, the Provincial Governor of Zamboanga del Sur. The Awarding Ceremony, a pivotal moment during the vent,  paid tribute to individuals who demonstrated outstanding performance, commendable ethical service, and behavior that aligns with the goals, vision, and mission of the Department. 

At the event’s closure, Engr. Carmelo Enrique B. Libot, CESO IV, serving as the Assistant Regional Director of DILG IX, conveyed the concluding remarks. He extended appreciation for the awardees’ dedication and tireless efforts, underscoring the Department’s steadfast dedication to maintaining a standard of ongoing excellence. 

The 2023 Parangal sa DILG IX serves as evidence of the Department’s steadfast dedication to acknowledging and commemorating the remarkable efforts of its personnel, cultivating an environment of creativity, and advocating for excellence in public service.
