The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Region IX as Chair of the Regional Poverty Reduction Action Team (RPRAT) in coordination with the various partner agencies of government successfully conducted the Orientation-Workshop for the Grassroots Planning and Budgeting Process (GPBP) for CY 2015.

 

The one-day activity conducted at Top Plaza Hotel, Dipolog City on January 9, 2014 was attended by Zamboanga del Norte Provincial Governor Roberto Y. Uy, Dipolog City Mayor Evelyn T, Uy, the local chief executives of the municipalities of Zamboanga del Norte, Planning and Development Coordinators, Sanggunian Chairpersons of the Committee on Appropriations of the cities and municipalities, Local Government Operations Officers and DILG Provincial Officers, among others.

The opening program was graced by DILG IX Regional Director Paisal O. Abutazil who underscored in this message the role of the local government units in effectively addressing poverty issues in their respective municipalities.

Director Abutazil likewise stressed on the importance of forging strong partnerships and collaboration with the members of the RPRAT in order to realize ideals and vision for local development.

For CY 2015, the Grassroots Participatory Budget Process (GPBP) formerly the Bottom-Up Planning and Budgeting (BUB) program covers 25 municipalities of Zamboanga del Norte and the component cities of Dapitan and Dipolog, respectively.

The Local Poverty Reduction Action Teams (LPRATs) were oriented on the processes, procedures and implementing strategies of the GPBP program for CY 2015, as reflected and outlined in their respective Local Poverty Reduction Action Plans (LPRAPs) wherein priority development projects are identified for implementation at the grassroots.

In the course of the activity, workshops were conducted in order to thresh out issues and concerns and identify strategies to effectively implement various projects ultimately aimed to address problems on poverty in the LGUs.

Likewise, a series of orientation-workshops on the 2015 GPBP is scheduled to be conducted in various dates and venues within the month of January 2014 in preparation for the submission of the 2015 LPRAPs which deadline is on the first week of February 2014.
